Best Classroom Brain Break
I used this in my classroom and the kids loved it! I chose a student of the day and they got to press it 3 times a day, once in each block of learning. They loved getting me mid sentence or when we needed to lighten things up a bit. We had lots of practice getting back to our seats and back to work as if nothing ever happened. An even bigger thrill was having a press left when the principal came in.
I have one at my middle school podium. When the kids finish the section successfully we celebrate with a 30 second dance party. It’s phenomenal.

I believe we counted at least 4 different songs before I had to box it back up. Gave it to a co-worker as a retirement gift. It was our inside joke when a certain song came on, so this way she could keep dancing even though she was leaving.

My students love mine! Each day I randomly pick a student to be in charge of it. They get to use it any time they want twice during the day. I often hit it for a “bonus” time. It’s a great brain break and it makes my students happy to see how bad of a dancer I am.

this would be great for your daughter’s classroom! Use it for those times when the kids just need a change of attitude and some movement. Don’t announce it or anything, just hit the button and start bopping! I worked in some classrooms where the teacher might have used it to great effect.

I am a speech pathologist in the public schools and we bought 2 of these at Christmas time (one for me and one for my husband who also works in the schools). The kids LOVE the 30 second dance party. Some of my very severe students sign "MORE" to press the dance party button. The general education students love to end their sessions with a dance party. We count up the amount of group members and do the math on how long our dance party is with each person pressing the button. Its so fun!

I sub and tried it with a Kindergarten class. They LOVED it. They cleaned up quickly to "see what the big yellow button does"! When the music stopped, they knew to freeze, and went back to their seats after I promised we would do it again later. Thirty seconds is the perfect amount of time for a brain break to get the wiggles out.

my kids love it. I teach 6th and 8th grade English. When they look a bit weary, I pull it out. Sometimes they ask for it. Most get up and move with the music. Many really get into it. We have dance party rules: no contact and no talking. (They tend to want to scream while they dance.) Have a system for who gets to push the button! I try not to do it more than once a week to try to keep it from getting old. My 8th graders love it as much as my 6th graders. And I dance with them...
I’ve had this for a few years and I use it as a sudden reward when my PreK students are all working well in their centers! I flip my light switches on and off to the beat like a strobe light! I’m always sure to use it when I am being observed by our administration! My favorite part is when everyone returns back to their centers to continue working without any issues, and with more focus!
I just bought this to help my highly functioning, 11 year old, autistic niece, with some additional behavioral issues. If I can catch her, when she is still only at the grumpy stage, I can usually get her laughing at something, and it pulls her out before we hit epic meltdown. I got a 30SDP in the mail yesterday. My sister (her grandmother) and I have been using it randomly to make her laugh to condition her, while she is staying in a good mental place. Fingers crossed, it will be a great tool. I will keep you updated! Oh yeah. I got the package with the keychain too! I am an EMT with a security company at our local power plant. On weekends, we have 12 hour graveyard shifts. This should be a fun addition! I plan to order another keychain version for my sister’s truck. My niece has meltdowns before and after school. My sister will obviously have to pull over, before starting a 30SDP!

I have this for my second grade classroom. Love it! Every morning during our meeting, I would choose a “party time.” We would talk about the hours and minutes, what we would likely be doing at that time, and what it looks like on the clock. Then as the day went on, if a student noticed it was party time, we’d have our dance party. This was a super fun and engaging way to teach time. 😊

I just sent this link to my boss. We work in a giant open area cubicle farm. We are sedentary and they're always offering us standing desks and balls to sit on. I think everytime anyone walks by and hits the button it should be mandatory for folks in that section to get up and move until the music stops and untill the button is hit again by a passer by. Spotanious 30 second dance parties to get the blood pumping.
What an awesome idea! As a former educator this would have been perfect to get the wiggles out! Some commenters are saying a minute would be better but I think it depends on your audience. A minute might be to long for hyper second graders but 30 seconds just enough of a break/distraction. If you want more time just keep hitting the button until your move has been busted!!! lol
When I first saw the ad for this, I told my friend that I would smack them if they ever bought one for me. I have a 3 1/2 year old and I KNEW this would be used a lot. I finally caved and bought it myself because I knew it would make him happy. But the truth is that it makes us ALL happy!
